๐ŸŒฑ Installing a Root Barrier for Bamboo

To ensure your bamboo stays contained and healthy, please follow these steps when installing the root barrier:

  1. Dig the trench
    • Excavate a trench around the planting area to a depth of 60 cm.
    • Keep the sides as straight as possible for a snug fit.
  2. Line the trench with barrier
    • Place the root barrier against the trench walls.
    • At the join, allow for sufficient overlap so there are no gaps where roots could escape.
  3. Leave the barrier above soil level
    • Ensure the barrier extends at least 30 mm above the final soil level.
    • This prevents rhizomes from creeping over the top.
  4. Backfill halfway
    • Refill the trench to about half its depth with soil.
    • Firm it down gently to support the barrier.
  5. Position the bamboo
    • Place your bamboo plants in the prepared trench.
    • Adjust spacing and alignment as desired.
  6. Complete the backfill
    • Fill the remainder of the trench with soil, pressing down to secure the barrier and plants.
    • Water thoroughly to settle the soil.
